Who We Are

The North Country Home Health & Hospice Agency (NCHHHA) Volunteer Program is a compassionate group of individuals dedicated to supporting patients, families, and caregivers during some of life’s most important moments. Volunteers provide comfort, companionship, and essential support to those receiving home health and hospice care. As part of North Country Healthcare (NCH), NCHHHA volunteers contribute to a network committed to improving lives by assuring consistently excellent, integrated healthcare.

What We Do

NCHHHA volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families by offering support in a variety of ways, including:

  • Hospice Companion Volunteers – Providing emotional support, companionship, and respite for caregivers
  • Bereavement Support – Assisting with grief support groups, outreach, and follow-up
  • Clerical & Administrative Support – Helping with office tasks, mailings, and documentation
  • Community Outreach & Fundraising – Supporting events and initiatives that raise awareness and funding for hospice care
  • Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers – Connecting with hospice patients who have served in the military
  • Special Projects & Personalized Support – Creating memory books, delivering comfort items, or helping with seasonal initiatives

Hospice volunteers receive specialized training to ensure they feel prepared and supported in their role. While hospice care is a core part of our program, volunteers also assist with broader home health initiatives that help patients remain safe and independent at home.
