    • A document that outlines the fundamental rights of patients, including dignity, privacy, informed consent, and respectful treatment.
      • Knowing patient rights ensures you respect their choices and advocate for their well-being in all interactions.
  • Assessment of Possible Abuse and Neglect Statement

    • A guide to recognizing and reporting signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of patients.
      • Volunteers are often on the front lines and can help protect vulnerable patients by identifying and reporting concerns early
  • Privacy Policies for the Use and Disclosure of Protected Health Information

    • A commitment to protect private health information, in compliance with HIPAA laws and NCH policies.
      • Confidentiality is essential to maintaining trust, protecting patients' dignity, and complying with healthcare laws.
  • Hospital Volunteer/Hospice Support Services Volunteer Emergency Procedures

    • Instructions on how to respond to emergencies, including medical situations and facility evacuations.
      • Knowing what to do in an emergency can help you act quickly, keep patients safe, and support staff during crises.
  • NCH Corporate Compliance Plan

    • A policy that explains NCH’s commitment to lawful, ethical conduct and outlines how to report concerns such as fraud or unsafe practices.
      • Compliance protects the integrity of our services and ensures we meet legal and ethical standards. Volunteers play a vital role in upholding these values.
  • NCH Code of Conduct Statement

    • A guide to ethical behavior and professional standards for all NCH staff and volunteers.
      • Following the Code of Conduct ensures a respectful, safe, and positive environment for patients, families, and fellow team members.
  • NCH Conflict of Interest Form

    • A form that asks you to disclose any personal relationships or financial interests that could conflict with your volunteer duties.
      • Transparency about potential conflicts protects NCH’s integrity and ensures that decisions are made in the best interest of patients and the organization.
  • NCH Social Media Policy

    • A policy that outlines appropriate use of social media platforms in connection with your volunteer role. It includes guidelines for sharing information about NCH events and services while protecting patient confidentiality and upholding NCH’s reputation.
      • Volunteers must never post confidential or identifying information about patients, staff, or other volunteers. Additionally, volunteers should refrain from sharing photos taken during volunteer activities without proper authorization.
  • NCH Photo & Media Release Policy

    • A policy that explains how NCH may use photographs, videos, or other media that include volunteers. This may include promotional materials, social media, newsletters, or website content.
      • Volunteers have the option to grant or decline permission for NCH to use their likeness. If a volunteer agrees, their image may be used to promote NCH’s mission and volunteer activities. If a volunteer does not wish to be photographed, they should inform the Volunteer Coordinator in advance.
